The Arbor Consort is a semi-professional group of singers based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, performing both publicly and privately throughout the year. Formerly known as "Our Lady's Madrigal Singers", Arbor Consort was formed over 20 years ago as  the official madrigal ensemble of the Michigan Renaissance Festival in Holly. Arbor Consort can also be seen as carolers during the holidays, and is the Victorian Caroling quartet for the State Street Area Association and for Kerrytown Market & Shops in Ann Arbor.

Holiday Season is here!

Holiday Season rehearsals start Wednesday, October 1 at 7:30 p.m.

The Board of The Arbor Consort invites you all to sing with us in this upcoming season!

Our Holiday season is when we switch time periods from Renaissance to roughly the Victorian Era, the late 18th and early 19th Centuries.

We begin rehearsals for this season on October 1st, again under the fine Direction of Juan Pereira.

As always, we meet on Wednesday evenings, from 7:30 - 9:30 PM at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1415 Miller Road, Ann Arbor.

Sit in with us at rehearsal, and have a relaxed vocal audition at the end of the evening with our Director, it's just that easy!  If you know of anyone else who might be interested in joining TAC, please pass this along.

Our repertoire is SATB Holiday music, carols and secular & sacred music loosely appropriate to the Victorian Era, primarily from the Oxford Book of Carols and Gladys Pitcher, with Octavo pieces as well.

We perform in period costume during this season as well, but the requirements are considerably less expensive to put together. For men, a tux jacket, tab collar white shirt, black, brown or gray pants, fancy vest, top hat, ribbon type bow tie, and a warm long wool coat or cloak is all that's needed. For the ladies, a full long skirt, frill neck and cuff blouse, hat and cloak go a long way.  More costuming information and resources will be available during the season.

During this season we hope to be performing in small groups of 4-6 people for the State and Main Street Area Associations on Friday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 PM starting after Thanksgiving Day.
Other venues include Kerrytown Market and Shops, The Hamburg Historical Museum, Tyme Well Spent Tea Room, Green Oak Village Place Mall, and others. Almost all of our performances are afternoons or evenings on weekends.

Our big performance is the last Sunday prior to Christmas, when we all gather at UM Hospital to sing in small groups covering all the adult floors, singing for those unfortunate enough to be in Hospital during the season. A very rewarding afternoon, in so many ways. Afterward we all repair to Cottage Inn Pizza for an end of season party to wish each other well and say goodbye until we resume the next year.

For those veteran singers who have not been with us for a while, TAC's door is open and waiting for you to come back and sing with us once again!

Best,
Kurt Buker - President
