The Arbor Consort
Renaissance Season
is here!
Our Renaissance
rehearsal season for new members starts on Wednesday, May 5, at 7:30 p.m. All
interested singers should drop by and sit in on a rehearsal to get a feel
for what we do.
The Arbor Consort is a semi-professional group of singers based in Ann Arbor, Michigan,
performing both publicly and privately throughout the year. Formerly known
as "Our Lady's Madrigal Singers", Arbor Consort was formed over 25 years ago as
the official madrigal ensemble of the
Michigan Renaissance Festival in Holly. We have also recently
performed at a fundraiser for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
The Arbor Consort can also be seen
as street carolers during the holidays, and has been the Victorian Caroling
ensemble for: The University of Michigan Hospital - Gifts of Art,
Green Oaks Village Place Mall in Brighton,
Hamburg Historical Museum in Hamburg, Tyme
Well Spent Tea Room in Hartland,
Ann Arbor Country Club,
Barton Hills Country Club,
State Street Area Association,
Main Street Area Association,
and for
Kerrytown Market & Shops in Ann Arbor.
The Board of The Arbor Consort is pleased to
announce that Nils H. Klykken has accepted the position of Rehearsal
Director for The Arbor Consort for our 2010 Renaissance Season!
Nils is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan and currently
teaches at University Preparatory Academy in Detroit, Michigan. A native of
Midland, Michigan, Nils currently resides in Ann Arbor.
An accomplished tenor, Nils' prior vocal experience includes: Past President
of UM Men's Glee Club, UM Chamber Choir, UM Orpheus Singers, and UM
University Choir.
Nils' training under UM's own Dr. Jerry Blackstone, grasp of vocal technique
and languages, attention to phrasing and dynamics, fine ear, energy, and
keyboard skills were among the items that put him over the top in a vote by
audition choir members in their comments and ratings.
Please join us in welcoming Nils at our first formal rehearsal of the 2010
Renaissance season on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Calvary United Methodist
Church, 1415 Miller Rd. Ann Arbor, MI from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM. We are
pleased to announce that 11 new pieces of music have been added to our
repertoire this season!
Open Call for Singer/Performers at the same location, Wednesday evenings
beginning May 5, 2010 through the end of the month. Come join our merry
band of Madrigal Singers and perform at The Michigan Renaissance Festival!
Want to join us? Just write us at
thearborconsort@gmail.com , join us in a rehearsal, and have an informal
vocal evaluation with Nils.
