Renaissance Season is here!

The Arbor Consort is a semi-professional group of singers based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, performing both publicly and privately throughout the year. Formerly known as "Our Lady's Madrigal Singers", Arbor Consort was formed over 25 years ago as  the official madrigal ensemble of the Michigan Renaissance Festival in Holly.

The Arbor Consort can also be seen as street carolers during the holidays, and has been the Victorian Caroling ensemble for: Green Oaks Village Place Mall in Brighton, Hamburg Historical Museum in Hamburg,  Tyme Well Spent Tea Room and Gift Shoppe in Hartland, Ann Arbor Country Club, Barton Hills Country Club, State Street Area Association, Main Street Area Association,  and for Kerrytown Market & Shops in Ann Arbor.

The Board of The Arbor Consort invites you all to sing with us in this upcoming season!

Dear Members, Friends and Interested Singers,

Here we go!

The Arbor Consort  will begin its Renaissance Season on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, from 7:30 to 9:30 PM, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1415 Miller Road, Ann Arbor, 48103

The Arbor Consort is a group of semi-professional a capella singers, SATB, of all age groups and backgrounds from the Metro-Detroit/Ann Arbor area that performs Renaissance Madrigals in costume at Renaissance Festivals in Spring, Summer and Fall, as well as Victorian Era Carols at Christmastime.  Generally our repertoire is from 30 - 40 part-songs in primarily English, but also French, Italian, German, Latin and even some Spanish.

The group welcomes back our Director, Juan Pereira for his third season with us. Juan is an accomplished Director, Operatic Tenor and Pianist currently attending the University of Michigan, as well as a fun guy!

The group will be welcoming new and returning members beginning with our first open rehearsal on January 14th through the end of April, although the sooner you join us, the better!

Joining the group is easy and painless. Simply contact the President and then attend a rehearsal, sing with us, and experience what we do and meet our members. You will be given music so that you can participate in the rehearsal in your section, and a section leader will guide you.

The ability to read music is a plus, but most important is a good ear for small ensemble singing, quick study, confidence in your own voice singing one on a part, and a desire to perform for the public often at our various venues: The Michigan Renaissance Festival, SilverLeaf Renaissance Faire, and Mayfaire, to name a few.

You may contact the President at thearborconsort@gmail.com for further information.

Please pass this information on to anyone you know who would be interested in joining our talented and fun group!

We look forward to seeing you!

Kurt Buker,

President, The Arbor Consort.
